Backup batteries are important for any fire system, ensuring adequate suppo=
rt is available at times of mains interrupt or failure. To meet the design =
requirements of BS5839/EN54, fire systems should use the following backup s=
trategies:
Standby only =E2=80=93 A minimum period of 24-hour support dependent upon a=
pplication.
Alarm condition =E2=80=93 The cells must be capable of delivering full alar=
m load for a minimum duration of 30 minutes. This may differ between applic=
ations and should take account of the required =E2=80=98standby=E2=80=99 pe=
rformance.
Advanced products are third-party accredited to meet the stringent requirem=
ents of BS5839/EN54 when used in conjunction with Yuasa or Power Sonic cell=
s only. These brands follow the strictest manufacturing and test processes =
offering exceptional performance throughout their serviceable life of 3-5 y=
ears.

st be flame retardant when used in fire system applications.
